The Snowshoe Ski and Snowboard School operates out of the Shavers Center in the main resort complex, and out of a building adjacent to the Silver Creek Lodge on the Silver Creek side.

Group lessons: Lessons for ages 13 and older (skiing or snowboarding) are 1.75 hours long. Beginners pay $35 in the morning and $30 in the afternoon; intermediates and better pay $40 in the morning and $35 in the afternoon. Advanced Bump Clinics cost $35. Snowboarders who are intermediates and better can take a parks and pipes lesson for $35.

First-timer packages: Snowboarders can take the Burton Learn to Ride program, which includes a morning and afternoon lesson, rentals and novice-area trail pass for $69.

Private lessons: All-day costs $400 ($450 weekends/holidays); half-day costs $250 ($270 weekends/holidays); one-hour sessions cost $75 ($90 weekends/holidays). Additional people cost $25 each. Up to five people can take the all-day and half-day private lessons; up to two people can take the one-hour privates. Reservations recommended; call (877) 441-4386 or (304) 572-1000.
