Mountain layoutSnowboarding
Like riding in the trees? About 1,500 of the 2,000 acres here are woods, and powder stashes often stay hidden in the old-growth forest for days after a storm. Ride the Grand View Express or West Bowl Express and just jump into the treesanywhere. Five backcountry access gates were recently opened. Like chutes? Rock drops? Endless powder fields? You'll find it all here in the mountain's all-natural terrain park. Access is free with the purchase of a lift ticket and guided tours are available daily.
Lower Main is a steep, groomed intermediate run that rises above the day lodge. Work on your high-speed carving technique here. West Bowl will fast become the fav area of the mountain for intermediates. The Backside is another good spot to test powder skills.
Parks and pipes
Sierra-at-Tahoe
has five terrain parks, all marked with icons on the trail map.
One of the most well-known parks is on The Alley and has five rail
slides, two hits, two tabletops (with multiple hits) and a sound
system. Aspen West is home to the 17-foot superpipe, which attracts
some incredible skiers and riders and is highly regarded. Advanced
tricksters, hear this: Head to Sierra's super-sized terrain park
on Bashful to test your mettle on the 40-foot Wall of Fortune. Intermediates
should go to the park on Upper Main or Broadway, where you'll find
rail gardens for jibbing, tables of all sizes and plenty of fun
boxes. Beginners will find the Boardercross track on Smokey is the
perfect place to test your speed on berms, rollers and banked turns. |
