Schweitzer Mountain Resort, Idaho

Mountain Layout—Snowboarding

Schweitzer is pretty much riders’ heaven, even beyond the terrain park. The chutes and bowls are all blues and blacks with easy access and return. One exception is the “Cat Track to Village” that crosses under the Sunny Side lift—there’s a bit of uphill toward the end. Ridge Run, left from the top of the Great Escape Quad, is very wide and gently sloped, so you might stall out in deep, ungroomed snow. Outback Bowl is choice for tree-running—try Glade-iater from the top of the Stella six-pack.

Parks and pipes
Stomping Grounds Terrain Park is accessed from the Chair One midstation. It’s 50 acres of freeriders’ fun, with beginner, intermediate and expert terrain featuring jumps, rails and tabletops. Weekly jam sessions and coaching events take place throughout the year. It’s also open for night riding.
