Child care: Ages newborn to 8. Cost is $95 for a full day . Fees include snacks and lunch, except for infants. Day care can be combined with ski and snowboard school for ages 3–8. They get supervised activities, plus a lesson and rentals, for $155 for a full day.

Reservations are strongly advised for all child-care programs, at least four to six weeks ahead; call (800) 626-6684. Day care is located at both The Small World Day Care Center at Mammoth Mountain Inn, just across the street from the Main Lodge, and the child-care center at June Mountain. Open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Parents also can arrange evening babysitting services through the Small World Day Care Center.

MAMMOTH MOUNTAIN CHILD CARE

Children's lessons: The Woollywood Ski School teaches kids ages 3–12; snowboard lessons start at age 5. Full-day packages (lessons, lunch, lift ticket) for skiing or snowboarding cost $155. First-timers also can take a two-and-one-half hour lesson for $85. Helmets are required for all children in ski school lessons; rentals are available.
